Júlio Caldas is a musician, producer and researcher of plucked string instruments and has released seven albums: Pitecantropus Erectus; Café com Blues – Export Type; Julio Caldas Quartet – Choro Rock; Wire Viola; Julio Caldas & Choro Rock – Bahia Guitar Circuit; Blues, Baiões and Psicodelia, Canções Amigas and Nordeste na Palma da Mão, recently released in 2025 on all digital platforms.
The guitarist was part of the Conquista band Café Com Blues and has performed alongside big names in Brazilian music, such as Beth Carvalho, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Maria Bethânia, Pepeu Gomes and Danilo Caymmi. He is also the producer of the Mostra de Guitarra Baiana, the Circuito de Guitarra Baiana and the Trio de Guitarra Baiana. He was awarded the Dodô and Osmar Trophy, nominated for the Caymmi Trophy and finalist at the Educadora FM Music Festival. He produced the album “Terreiros”, by Roque Ferreira, nominated for the Brazilian Music Award in the Samba category (2016); He was the arranger of the album “Abre camino”, by Mariene de Castro, which won the TIM Music Award (2005), in the Best Regional Album category, and the CD “Lua Bonita”, by Socorro Lira, winner of the Brazilian Music Award (2012) in the same category.
